Problem of elder abuse to be topic
A sad – and ugly – problem in modern society is the abuse of its older members.
Domestic Violence Services of Snohomish County, in partnership with Harbour Pointe Retirement Center, is hosting a discussion of elder abuse from 2:30-3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 23.
Titled a “Tea at Harbour Pointe,” the event will include complimentary tea and a variety of bite-sized desserts.
Elder abuse, a little discussed issue that affects many family members and neighbors, will be talked about by a panel of experts, including: Vicci Hilty, DVS executive director; Mukilteo Police Chief Rex Caldwell; and Nathalie Gauteron of Snohomish County Senior Services.
There is no charge for the event, and no requests for donations will be made; however, donation envelopes will be available for anyone wishing to help DVS in its mission.
RSVP is requested by Oct. 16 by calling 425-493-8555.
