Re-elect Richard Emery | Letter

Oct 30, 2013

Editor, The Beacon:

We first met Richard 15 years ago while serving on the board of Snohomish County Habitat for Humanity.

We have always known him to be fair-minded, thoughtful, and dedicated to whatever cause he takes on. His heart belongs to his family and his community, as well as the well-being of people in general.

Richard has a positive attitude, works well with others and manages to stay above the fray when strong personalities on the board clash.

He always considers both sides of an issue before making decisions, and aims for the solution that is best for the community as the whole, regardless of who supports it, be it the mayor or any bloc of councilmembers.

Whether the issue at hand concerns Japanese Gulch, waterfront access, the operation of Rosehill Community Center, or red-light cameras, Richard refuses to play partisan politics.

His allegiance is to the citizens of Mukilteo, as they have entrusted him with the quality of their lives. There is no room in those considerations for playing favorites or any alliance that does not promote the community’s best interests.

Richard has served Mukilteo for the past six years. He has demonstrated time and again that he is on the City Council solely to protect and enhance our community.

As citizens who love where we live, we need to re-elect Richard Emery so he can continue to work for us.

Phil and Chris Salditt,

Mukilteo
