Recycling, transfer station closure rescheduled
The Airport Road Recycling and Transfer Station is now set to close from Feb. 6-26 for repairs. The station will reopen at 7 a.m. Feb. 27.
The recycling area will remain open, but will not accept yard waste.
The delay is due to inclement weather disrupting the movement and delivery of containers from the landfill in Eastern Washington. At this time, Snohomish County Public Works must utilize all available floor space at the facility in order to stockpile garbage.
Additionally, the Cathcart Way Temporary Recycling and Transfer Station, which was scheduled to open on Monday to support the ARTS closure, will not open until February 6. That station, at 8915 Cathcart Way, will be open for commercial haulers and mechanical unload/hydraulic dump style vehicles only. Recycling will not be available at the Cathcart site.
The county’s Solid Waste Division is closing the station to repair the compactors and tipping floor. The repairs are funded by transfer station customer fees.
Customers who wish to unload their garbage and/or recycling by hand will need to use the Southwest Recycling and Transfer Station in Mountlake Terrace or the North County Recycling and Transfer Station in Arlington.
