Relay for Life is an ‘unforgettable’ event | Letter

Jul 02, 2014

Editor, The Beacon:

I'm writing to invite the entire community to attend the 2014 Relay For Life of Mukilteo.

Relay For Life events are the largest fundraisers for the American Cancer Society. Funds raised go to much-needed research to eradicate cancer, to provide services to those diagnosed and to educate our community about prevention.

Last year, our local event (the first-ever in Mukilteo) raised almost $50,000!

This year's Relay For Life of Mukilteo will be held at Kamiak High School's track. It begins Saturday, July 12 at noon, and runs until 8 a.m. Sunday, July 13.

Survivors will be honored at noon on Saturday. If you are a cancer survivor and would like to attend, go to www.relayforlife.org/mukilteowa.

Our dramatic luminaria ceremony — where we remember those we’ve lost to cancer and those who continue to fight — will be at 10 p.m. on Saturday, June 12.

Everyone is invited: You won’t want to miss this unforgettable event!

Our all-volunteer committee has worked hard to make this year’s relay even bigger and better than last year’s. If you’re interested in forming a team, go to www.relayforlife.org/mukilteowa.  If you have general questions or would like to volunteer, email me at turgeonrelay@comcast.net.

Please join us as we celebrate, remember and fight back against cancer!

Event Chair,
