The South Everett-Mukilteo Rotary Club has named ACES High School senior Hunter Lankford its Student of the Month for March.

Lankford, 19, was born in Monroe. Due to a severe health issue, he missed a year of school. He began his freshman year at Kamiak, then transferred to a high school out of district. Due to missing so much school, ACES High School gave him the opportunity to graduate as a super-senior.

Lankford enjoys ACES’ small classes and “family” atmosphere. His favorite class is art with Ms. Welch, particularly helping her load the kiln with pottery.

Lankford enjoys sketching, photography and playing video games. He likes to take pictures in which he “manipulates” the subject to express an emotion or make a statement.

Hunter has volunteered at the food bank and has worked for the Macy’s parade for a couple of years assembling the floats on display.

After graduation, Lankford plans on attending Everett Community College, transferring to Western Washington University, and eventually becoming an art teacher. His goal is to replace Ms. Welch at ACES High School.
