School Board Report for Nov. 26
During its meeting on Nov. 26, the Mukilteo School Board did the following:
Recognized the Mukilteo Schools Foundation on its 20th anniversary and for organizing a successful fundraising breakfast earlier this month, which raised about $43,000 for the Foundation’s projects.
Approved revised School Improvement Plans for the 2012-13 school year.
Approved a resolution that certifies a Transportation Vehicle Fund Levy that will provide $3 million in 2013 for the purchase of school buses. The ballot measure was approved by about 60 percent of the voters in the school district.
Heard staff reports about and discussed the following: an overview of the school district’s efforts to provide a transition to post-secondary support and services for special education students; proposed instructional materials for 4th and 5th grade reading and writing; an overview of elementary parent-teacher conferences held in late October and early November; and a proposed revision to Board Policy 2166 (Gifted and Talented Programs).
During a work session held before the general business meeting, school board members discussed a tour of district facilities that is planned in early December, legislative priorities and school issues, and debriefed topics that were presented at a recent meeting of the Washington State School Directors’ Association.
