School Briefs for week of May 15
Kamiak's mock car crash is Thursday
Don’t be alarmed if you see police cars, aid cars and fire trucks speeding to Kamiak High School at around 9:30 a.m. on Thursday. It will not be a real emergency.
The sirens and flashing lights will be part of the school’s mock car crash, an event that features wrecked cars in the school parking lot, fake blood on the students playing the roles of crash victims, mock arrests and a pretend fatality.
It and an assembly that will follow the car crash are done in an effort to give students a realistic taste of the possible consequences of drinking and driving.
Held preceding the school’s senior prom (which will take place on Saturday), the mock car crash is organized by the leadership students with the cooperation of the Mukilteo police and fire departments and the school’s Drama Department.
Public meetings to discuss overcrowding
Two public meetings will take place at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 15, and Thursday, May 16, to discuss overcrowding in Mukilteo elementary schools.
The May 15 meeting will be held at Voyager Middle School and the May 16 meeting will be at Harbour Pointe Middle School.
These briefs were provided by Andy Muntz, the spokesperson for the Mukilteo School District.
