Schools foundation seeks scholarship applicants
The Mukilteo Schools Foundation is sponsoring scholarships for seniors at Kamiak, ACES and Mariner high schools planning to enroll in post-secondary education.
The scholarships range from $500 to $1,000 each and aim to assist students who have benefited from attending schools in the Mukilteo School District.
The Foundation, which has awarded scholarships since 2010, will also award two $1,000 scholarships to students pursuing a STEAM related field of study.
Applications – which can be downloaded at mukilteoschoolsfoundation.org – must be received by May 5 and sent by email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Applicants will complete the application and write a one-page, typed, 500-word essay in 12-point font on how Mukilteo Schools have changed or influenced their lives. Essays may be used for later publication by the Foundation.
Applicants must be school district seniors graduating in 2017 and planning to enroll in postsecondary education at an accredited 2-year college, 4-year university or vocational technical school. Scholarships will be awarded to the school once enrollment is confirmed.
Last month, the Foundation awarded 44 grants totaling $20,407 to help Mukilteo educators fund classroom projects intended to improve student achievement.
Educators in 18 schools and programs received grants this year.
The grants, which are for up to $500, are awarded each year using funds that the foundation has raised through corporate and individual donations, primarily at the organization’s annual fundraising breakfast on Veterans Day.
