Sock Hop rescheduled; be patient
Sometimes no matter how well you try to cover all contingencies, one of those unknowns comes along to ruin your plans.
So it was with the ‘50s Rock‘n’Roll Sock Hop that Mother Nature cancelled on Dec. 9.
The Mukilteo Seniors Association, in cooperation with the city of Mukilteo, had planned the fund raiser as the first of what they hoped would be an annual affair. The Friday snowstorm forced planners to cancel the dance.
It has been rescheduled, but you’ll have to be patient. Because Rosehill Community Center is in such demand, the next available weekend night isn’t until Nov. 17, 2017. That’s right, nearly a year from now.
However, dance enthusiasts, don’t despair.
Kristin Costello, recreation programmer at Rosehill, said a Valentine’s Day dance is slated for 5:30-8:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 27.
This event, featuring a DJ spinning discs, perhaps a disco ball and more, will be for the whole family. Mark your calendar; keep your eye on the weather.
