The Sound Steppers Volkssport Club, for the first time, is partnering with the Edmonds Food Bank in sponsoring a walk (5K and 10K) on May 12.

The community is invited to bring non-perishable food donations, which will be collected by the Food Bank, and then join The Sound Steppers for a walk through several parks and the Edmonds Community College Campus.

The window for starting the walk is between 8 a.m. and noon. The start location is the courtyard east of the golf course clubhouse on the Edmonds Community College Campus (20200 68th W, Lynnwood.)

The Walk will be on a golf course loop trail, through Edmonds and Lynnwood parks, Lynndale Park, Southwest County Park, Seaview Park and Pine Ridge Park.

Please note the walk is suitable for strollers but not for wheelchairs.

Sound Steppers recognizes the great need the Edmonds Food Bank has and hope that by inviting the entire community to participate they can help provide food to the needy and also get residents involved in a great way to get in shape and/or lose weight.

Don’t be intimidated by the name. Volkssport is simply non-competitive staffed walking, biking, swimming, roller skating, cross-country skiing or snowshoeing.

It’s a safe, simple way to get out and enjoy yourself.
