South Everett shooting victim in serious condition
A 28-year-old man remains in serious condition at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle after a Jan. 3 shooting in the parking lot of a Motel 6 in south Everett.
Snohomish County Sheriff’s detectives have yet to identify a suspect after conducting several follow-up interviews and investigating leads over the last week, spokesperson Shari Ireton said Jan. 9.
“The victim and other involved parties continue to assert that what led the suspect to shoot the victim is unknown,” Ireton wrote in an email to the Beacon.
Deputies responded to the 200 block of 128th St. SW after receiving a 911 call just after midnight Jan. 4.
According to witnesses, a 28 year-old man had gone to that location to confront another male, who was with several other people, about a debt.
While the two men discussed the debt, witnesses report that an unidentified male with the group became angry and shot at the victim's vehicle and the victim around midnight.
The suspect fled the area with three other men, and the victim was transported to the hospital.
Detectives have no evidence the incident was gang related, Ireton said.
An extensive search of the area by K-9, patrol and helicopter failed to locate a suspect. Major crimes unit detectives continue to investigate.
This was one of two assault incidents that the Sheriff's Office responded to that night.
