Strikers take a shot at 1st
The Mukilteo Strikers came from a first place finish in the spring soccer season on two separate leagues to nearly upset Mercer Island for first place in the Snohomish United Invitational, held at Stocker Fields June 8-9.
The Strikers – made up of mostly 11-year-olds – played up an age division, finishing second. The invitational is a select and premier summer soccer tournament.
The boys had a taste of competitive, and at times, very aggressive styles of play. Coach Clay Erickson said he was proud to see his team fighting hard on the field and holding their own, up against older, experienced players.
The Mukilteo Strikers plan to play three more major summer soccer tournaments. Last summer, they won first place in all but one.
