Thanks for voting for Mukilteo schools | Letter

Feb 19, 2014

Editor, The Beacon:

On behalf of the Citizens’ Team for Mukilteo Schools, we are profoundly grateful for voter support for both the levy and bond last week.

Continuation of the levy will allow the school district to maintain its tradition of academic excellence. We are particularly pleased that voters approved the bond, reaching that very difficult super-majority threshold.

This means that Mukilteo students will have more adequate space and the technology necessary for rigorous curriculum and student assessments. Resources also will finally be available to provide much needed improvements throughout the district.

The success of these measures didn’t occur in a vacuum. Citizens’ Team members spent countless hours organizing campaign activities. We had the generous participation of parents, staff members, students, local businesses and service organizations, youth sports groups and even school district alumni.

All of us were committed to informing our voters about the urgent need to pass this bond and the potential benefits for our kids and community. We are grateful beyond measure to one and all.

We especially thank those behind-the-scenes, primarily our families and friends, who didn’t see much of us for the last six months and were stalwart in their support.

Finally, kudos to The Beacon for endorsing our two measures. Your support always makes a difference.

With gratitude,

Paul Salas and Judy Schwab,

Co-Chairs,

Citizens’ Team for Mukilteo Schools
