United Way free tax preparation site now open
Last year, volunteers at the nearest free tax preparation site organized by United Way of Snohomish County helped 466 customers file their taxes and brought back $735,936 in refunds.
That money gave a boost to the local economy, built up savings and helped people pay off credit card debt.
This year, a free tax preparation center will once again be located at Cedar Valley Community School, at 19200 56th Ave. W. in Lynnwood.
The site will be open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. until April 15. This year, there will also be special Wednesday hours, 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., until Feb. 27.
This service is available for households earning $51,000 or less.
The Lynnwood site is one of six sites being opened by United Way throughout Snohomish County. All of the sites will be staffed by United Way volunteer tax preparers.
