Voice studio to hold 16th vocal recital
The Brookfield-Jordan Vocal Studio of Mukilteo will present its 16th annual Vocal Recital on Saturday, Aug. 17, and Sunday, Aug. 18 at the Mukilteo Presbyterian Church.
The recital will feature opera “Bon Bons” and a condensed version of the 1939 classic Rodgers and Hart musical “The Boys from Syracuse,” with performances by many Mukilteo residents.
Residents in the recital include Mina Barakatain, Helen Anderson, Jessica Niewohner, Jacqueline Tardaninco, Meriam Knoblaugh, Rachel Casselman, Kristine and Laura Blythe, Niki Frisby and pianist Ruth Mallery.
The show is a “labor of love” for longtime residents and voice teachers Gary Jordan and Sherri Brookfield-Jordan.
“We are thrilled to have been welcomed by the Mukilteo Presbyterian Church,” Brookfield-Jordan said. “This is our third performance there. The facilities and acoustics are excellent.
“We performed at the Everett Performing Arts Center for 10 years, but the rising production costs and the recession have forced us to scale back.”
Performances are 7 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 17, and 2 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 18.
“Our goal is to provide a complete performing experience for our students,” Jordan said. “We stage the shows and costume them, as well. “
This is the first time on stage for many of these singers. We love to see their growth over the rehearsal period.”
There is no admission charge, but a food donation is asked for the Mukilteo Food Bank.
The Mukilteo Presbyterian Church is at 4514 84th St. S.W.
