Volunteers needed at Clothes For Kids
As they begin their 30th year of serving students in Snohomish County, Clothes For Kids is seeking volunteers to help provide high-quality service to local families.
Clothes For Kids has been serving Snohomish County since 1984 as a non-profit organization providing wardrobes for low-income families. We have experienced a significant growth in clients over the past two years and the need for volunteers is greater than ever.
“We rely on volunteers,” says Nancy Laird-Burris, Program Manager for Clothes For Kids. “With a minimal staff, our volunteers are what make it possible for us to provide more than 4,000 wardrobes each year.”
Clothing Assistant volunteers help in sorting clothing, stocking shelves and racks, and assisting shoppers at check in and check out.
Clothing Assistant volunteers sign up for one shift per week. Shifts are Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings (8:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.) and Tuesday and Thursday evenings (5:30 p.m. – 8 p.m.). Volunteers are needed for all shifts.
“We operate on a shoe-string budget,” said Mike Gibson, Clothes For Kids Board President. “It is only through our generous volunteers and clothing donors that we are able to continue to grow our services and meet the needs of even more children.”
On Aug. 21, Clothes For Kids will open their doors for back to school “shopping.” Their wardrobe program is free to all qualified students and the “shopping” experience helps students feel good about themselves as they prepare for the new school year.

With many families still feeling the effects of the difficult economy, this is a great time to support our community.
