Voyager Middle School’s instrumental music program was selected as a recipient of the Michael Kamen Grant from the Mr. Holland’s Opus Foundation in Los Angeles.

The award will include the donation of nine instruments to the music program, with a value of more than $8,500.

“I’m absolutely elated,” said band and orchestra teacher Michael Clark. “Thanks to the generosity of the people at the Mr. Holland’s Opus Foundation, nine more students will be able to participate due to financial considerations.

“That is an incredibly generous donation that is going to make a real difference in the lives of real kids.”

Clark said he will receive a trumpet, a tenor saxophone and an alto saxophone from the foundation as well as two trombones, two clarinets and two flutes.
