We support Richard Emery | Letter
Editor, The Beacon:
We are writing today in support of the re-election of Richard Emery for Mukilteo City Council.
Richard has a quiet and thoughtful approach to Mukilteo's issues, but his quietness is backed by a keen mind, a vision of the future Mukilteo and a very strong will to see the city both successful and livable in the future.
We first met Richard Emery six years ago, at the beginning of organized efforts to preserve Japanese Gulch.
Richard and his wife Liza had managed to spark and energize a group of 60 supporters to show up at a City Council meeting for the sole purpose of preserving Japanese Gulch.
These weren't the first efforts within the community on behalf of Japanese Gulch, these were the most effective. Actions speak volumes, and Richard is a hard working and natural leader.
Richard is one of the founding members of the Japanese Gulch Group, a steady leader and champion, reaching out, bringing in and involving strong community leaders.
The goal of preserving Japanese Gulch has moved from dream to possibility, and Richard Emery deserves a lot of the credit for the steady progress.
Richard brings the same thoughtful consideration and determination to all issues as they come before City Council. He is fiscally responsible and an independent thinker.
Richard is not the most vocal councilmember, but he is one of the most effective.
