Why we support Joe Marine | Letter

Editor, The Beacon:

We have a passion for Mukilteo as shown by our commitment to support our community through volunteering. Our backgrounds and experience include corporate/small business, government, non-organizations, etc.

We sincerely believe Mayor Joe Marine serves our city with an unwavering passion, commitment and leadership to improve our city for its residents.

At the recent ceremony celebrating the turnover of the Tank Farm to our city on Friday at Rosehill Community Center, Joe Marine’s leadership and collaborative efforts to help make this happen for our city were recognized by the stakeholders and officials: Sen. Patty Murray, Port of Everett, Sound Transit, Tulalip Tribes, Washington State Ferries.

Our city is in essence a business that provides services to our community with a budget of more than $20 million. Our mayor needs to be a person with real world business experience; the job is not a business internship.

What sets Marine apart from his opponent is seven years of hands-on experience and leadership as our mayor, working tirelessly with businesses, municipal, state/federal governments, agencies and organizations. We recognize his work experience prior to being our mayor.

His opponent lacks significant business experience: Ten years as a sales representative for a school yearbook company with no employees, a part-time job as city councilmember.

We endorse Joe Marine for another term as our mayor to continue his stated goals for improving our community in both the short and longterm.

Darlene and Steve Conklé,

Mukilteo
