Will You Still Need Me - Will You Still Feed Me.....?
When the Beatles released their masterpiece album 'Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band' in June of '67, the summer before my senior year in high school was just beginning.
The record was the sound-track for the summer, playing incessantly at the nightly poker games.
We wore the grooves out of the vinyl.
To this day, it remains a great listen--- especially given the improvements in sound production. After several recent listens to it, there isn't a single song (or note or lyric, for that matter) that you'd want to change. From 'A Little Help From My Friends' and 'Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds' on the first side; to 'Lovely Rita' and 'A Day In the Life' on the second side; each song is unique, brilliant, and memorable.
Today, one of the songs seems particularly appropriate.
When we first heard 'When I'm Sixty-Four' in 1967, the very idea of living that long and ever being that old was incomprehensible.
Yet here we are today, on the first day of spring in 2013, and none other than the Publisher of the Mukilteo Beacon is having another birthday.
And like the album itself, he, too, is unique, brilliant, and memorable.
And still a great listen.
Happy Birthday Arch.
