William "Bill" Rohweder, 88, long time resident of Mukilteo, passed away Nov. 29, 2013.

Bill was born Feb. 12, 1925 in Burlington, Wash., where he graduated from Burlington Edison High School.

He received his teaching certificate at Western Washington University in 1948 and began his teaching career with the Mukilteo School District.

He accepted the role of principal at Rosehill School in 1956, where he also met and married his bride, a young teacher named Irene Brodie.

Over the next 22 years, he also served as principal at Olivia Park, Fairmont, and Lake Stickney elementary schools, until his retirement in 1978.

Bill was an avid sailboat racer and skier. During his and Irene’s retirement, they continued their love of the Northwest and hiked, camped, and bicycled throughout the Cascades and Olympics until Irene's passing in 1987.

Over the next two decades, he carried out their plans of seeing the world and traveled extensively, which brought him much joy in sharing his stories and experiences with his family and friends.

"Pappa Bill" will be missed dearly by his surviving daughter, Kay Arterburn (Don Richardson); grandson SPC Jacob Kuna, USA (Brittney); grandson Joel Kuna and granddaughter Mariah Arterburn.

He also leaves his dear friend and traveling companion, Dolores Robinson.

Per Bill's request, no services will be held. We will have a celebration of life gathering for family and friends to be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests a memorial contribution to the Mukilteo Boys & Girls Club via https://bgcsc.org/getinvolved/donate/.

Condolences may be sent to the family at PO Box 2, Mukilteo 98275.
