Knights earn a series split with Grizzlies | Baseball

Kamiak earned its fourth straight series split of the season.

The Knights lost 13-11 in the series opener against Glacier Peak, but prevailed 16-9 in the finale in Wesco 4A baseball action last week.

Glacier Peak took a 5-0 lead after two innings before Kamiak came storming back Wednesday, April 17 at Glacier Peak High School. The Knights scored five runs in the third and then exploded for eight in the fourth inning and added three more in the fifth.

Sophomore Syrus Vannatta was 4-for-6 with 2 RBI. Sophomore Andrew Moore, sophomore Nick Laman, freshman Sanha Oh and junior A.J. Riley each drove in two runs. Kamiak (4-6, 5-11) finished with 15 hits.

The Knights took a 3-0 lead in the series opener before Glacier Peak (3-6, 8-10) scored nine runs in the second inning Tuesday, April 16, at Kamiak High School. The Grizzlies led 11-3 in the third inning before the Knights cut the lead to 11-9 with a run in the third and four in the fourth and a run in the sixth. Glacier Peak pushed across two more runs seventh and Kamiak scored one in the bottom of the inning.

Moore and Riley each drove in two runs as the Knights produced 16 hits. Kamiak currently is in fifth place in the Wesco 4A standings.

Kamiak travels to Monroe for a 6 p.m., Wednesday, April 24 game, and then hosts the Bearcats at 6 p.m., Friday, April 26.
