Happy retirement

A total of 34 school district employees have announced their retirement or had already retired sometime since last June. All of them deserve a big thank you for their years of service to the students in our community. Staff members reach career milestones

Nine students graduate from CBTC

Nine students with special needs graduated recently from the Community Based Transition Center (CBTC), which prepares students for their futures as independent and productive individuals. Four of the students exited the program with paid employment and the others are working with employment agencies to assist them in finding paid employment. CBTC graduates have completed internships at local businesses, including Buffalo Wild Wings, Burlington, Electronetics, Albertson’s, Walgreens, and Fred Meyer.


Free summer food service

The Mukilteo School District will offer free meals at five locations during the summer as part of the annual Summer Food Service Program for Children, which is funded through the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Meals will be available at no charge to all children who are 18 years of age and younger. The meals will be provided at the following locations:

Challenger Elementary: Breakfast from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m., lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Monday through Friday, July 8 through Aug. 2.

Sno-Isle Tech Skills Center: Breakfast from 9 a.m. to 9:45 a.m., lunch from 11:15 a.m. to 12:45 p.m., Monday through Friday, July 1 through July 19. No service on July 4.

Voyager Middle School: Breakfast from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m., lunch from 12:15 p.m. to 1:15 p.m., Monday through Thursday, July 8 through Aug. 2.

Kasch Park: Lunch from 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., July 1, 2, and 3; Breakfast from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. and lunch 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., Aug. 6 to 9; Lunch from 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., Aug. 19 to 21.

Anyone need a job?

The Mukilteo School District is looking for substitute school bus drivers. Applicants must have at least five years of experience as the driver of a passenger car and have a clean driving record. Paid training is provided. Summer training class will start July 15. Starting pay for those hired will be $23.62 per hour. Apply online at If you have questions, please call 425-356-1346.


Three Kamiak students qualify for aersospace program

Three juniors from Kamiak, Aya Alayli, Lianne Kniest, and Jabin Munoz, have qualified to participate in the summer Western Aerospace Scholars program at the Museum of Flight in Seattle. The three qualified after taking part this year in a series of curriculum lessons designed by NASA and the University of Washington. In the summer program, the three will participate in a six-day experience at the Museum of Flight where students will plan a human mission to Mars with support from professional engineers and scientists, university students, and educators.
