The annual Mukilteo Christmas Concert is back for its 24th installment. This year’s show will be on Thursday, Dec. 6, at 7:30 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church (6215 196th St SW, Lynnwood).

This concert was initiated by the late Rev. Sung Jin Ahn, an enthusiastic music lover, as a “gift for Christmas” to his American neighbors in 1993.

Ahn lived in Mukilteo for several decades and passed away in 2002.

As he directed in his will, Ahn family members formed the Mukilteo Christmas Concert Foundation to support annual concert sharing the love, gratitude and blessings of God through music.

Violinist Kwan Bin Park, a grandson of Pastor Ahn and a Juilliard School graduate is leading the concert as the music director. The concert, which began as a small concert in Mukilteo, continued over the years, attracting more visitors and recently moved to the Lynnwood Trinity Church, which has larger capacity with Seattle's best premier pipe organ.

Park, as music director, is planning a concert and directing chamber music in which he becomes the main character. He conducts the adult and boys choir with two pianos.

Kwangsuk Ku, baritone, who has sung on the role of Marcello in the Puccini opera "La Boheme" at the Pacific Northwest Opera House, will sing “Agnus Dei,” by Georges Bizet; and “Largo al factorum” by Barbiere Di Siviglia.

The performances will end with the final chorus of “Oh, Holy Night,” a 24-year-old tradition with all performers on stage, altogether.

The Ahn family has held this concert with their foundation’s fund every year and has been practicing love, appreciation, hope, courage and sharing with the joy of birth of Jesus to the community.

Admission is free, and donations collected from the concert are passed on annually to Neighbor in Need homeless mission.
