8th Annual Hope Within Luncheon to benefit DVS

Oct 01, 2013

Domestic Violence Services of Snohomish County (DVS) will be hosting its 8th Annual Hope Within Luncheon Thursday, Oct. 3, at the Comcast Arena in Everett.

Representative Elizabeth Scott, Monroe, will be keynote speaker for the event entitled “Keep Calm & Grow Strong-Planting Seeds for the Future.”

Doors will open at 11:30 a.m., with program running from noon until 1:30 p.m.

Rep. Scott will share her personal story regarding domestic violence.  Special guest attendees will be Mrs. Trudi Inslee, First Lady of the State of Washington, and Deborah Parker, Vice Chairwoman of the Tulalip Tribes.

The Hope Within Luncheon is held annually in celebration of National Domestic Violence Awareness Month in October.

The event is a fundraiser for the agency as well as a way to bring public awareness to the issue of domestic violence and its devastating effects on individuals, families and the community at large.

Cost to attend the luncheon is $15 per seat or $125 for a table of 10.  As the event is a fundraiser, the agency suggests a donation of $50 at the event but honors donations of any size.

Donations received at the event help continue free and confidential services and programs offered by the agency.

Domestic Violence Services of Snohomish County is dedicated to ending domestic abuse in Snohomish County by providing a wide range of services to victims and by facilitating social change.

DVS offers assistance in numerous ways: a 24 hour hotline which answers over 5,800 calls each year, confidential emergency shelter to more than 300 women and children, transitional housing for 20 families, support groups for more than 1300, legal advocacy to more than 3,200, and a children’s program which serves over 400 children.
