Anderson takes second place, Mukai finishes third at districts | Cross country

Five Knights headed to state championships

Kamiak is sending five runners to this week’s 4A state cross country championships.

Senior Alicia Anderson, freshman Emma Arceo and senior Leah Clark placed second, third and fourth in the girls race at the district meet Saturday, Oct. 27, at South Whidbey High School.

Lake Stevens’ Taylor Roe won the race in 18 minutes, 32.74 seconds and was followed by Anderson (18:55.91) Arceo (18:56.84) and Clark (19:07.17). The Knights finished fourth overall with 72 points behind Glacier Peak (51), Jackson (58) and Lake Stevens (61).

Kamiak sophomore Carp Mukai took third place in the boys race in 16:25.02. Jackson’s Joseph Skoog won in 16:14.81 and was followed by teammate Brenden Charbeneau (16:16.88). Also qualifying for state was Kamiak sophomore Jason Blinn, who finished 11th in 16:41.14. Jackson (43) and Glacier Peak (50) placed first and second and advanced to state. Lake Stevens (64) and Kamiak (83) were third and fourth.

The top two teams and 14 individuals qualified for the state championships, which are Saturday, Nov. 3, at Sun Willows Golf Course in Pasco.
