Are Yellow Jackets beneficial?

Jun 27, 2018

Yes, they are beneficial.  Although not as productive as the Honey Bee, Yellow Jackets are pollinators.  In addition, they feed on flies, mosquitoes and other pests bothersome to people, as well as many pests destructive to plants.

When Yellow Jackets are simply around a picnic area, they are far less aggressive and usually won’t sting unless provoked.  Unless they are on you or in your house, it is best to let them “bee.”
