Board adopts budget for 2014-15 school year | Board report

During its meeting on June 23, the Mukilteo School Board did the following:

Adopted the school district’s operating budgets for the 2014-15 school year. The General Fund budget has expenditures of $165.3 million, the Capital Projects Fund budget has expenditures of $69.1 million, the Debt Service Fund budget has expenditures of $7.3 million, the Associated Student Body Fund budget has expenditures of $3.2 million, and the Transportation Vehicle Fund budget has expenditures of $1 million. The board also approved the transfer of $414,246 from the Capital Projects Fund to the General Fund budgets.

Approved a new three-year Collective Bargaining Agreement between the school district and the Mukilteo Extra-Curricular Classified Unit, which represents coaches, club advisers and other staff members who receive stipends.

Approved changes to the Student Rights and Responsibilities Handbook, which will be distributed to all students next fall.

Approved the renewal of a contract with Sodexo America to manage the nutrition services program for the school district. The cost of a paid reimbursable lunch will rise next year to $2.75 at elementary schools and $3 at secondary schools in order to meet the federal requirements for adequacy.

Approved a lease agreement for office space located at the Airport Business Center at Paine Field. The space will be used to house the school district’s Special Education department during the 2014-15 school year.

Approved a rescheduling of the next school board meeting to Monday, July 14, rather than July 21, as previously scheduled.

Heard staff reports about and discussed the following: teacher training opportunities to be offered during the summer and the efforts of the school district and the Everett Police Department to improve security at schools that are located within the city of Everett after school hours and on weekends.
