Due to unusually hot weather forecast through the Labor Day weekend, the Mukilteo Fire Department has issued a burn ban of recreational fires effective at midnight tonight – 12 a.m. Friday, Sept. 1.

The ban will remain in effect until further notice. The department will lift the ban either when hot weather subsides or a substantial amount of rainfall occurs.

This ban includes all open flame fires, including fire bowls burning firewood and fire pits, such as those at Lighthouse Park. Campfires, agricultural fires and bonfires are included in the ban, as well.

However, backyard barbecues using natural or liquid propane gas and charcoal will be allowed during the ban.

Please direct any questions to the Mukilteo Fire Department at 425-263-8150.

To report illegal burning during the ban, call the non-emergency number of 425-775-3000. To report an actual fire, call 9-1-1.
