Citywide Spring Clean-Up is next week

This year’s Great Mukilteo Garage Sale is Saturday, April 27.

In this Beacon is a special section listing sales being held in the greater Mukilteo area, including south Everett, Picnic Point and Serene Lake. Bargain hunters will find more than 100 sales from which to choose.

Associated with the garage sale is the citywide Spring Clean-Up, a day when you can throw away your junk after spring cleaning.

This year’s Spring Clean-Up is set for your regular trash-pick up day on either Monday, April 29, or Wednesday, May 1.

The 2013 Spring Clean-Up is sponsored by the city of Mukilteo in cooperation with the Rubatino Refuse Removal Inc. and Waste Management Northwest Inc. for regular customers within the city limits.

Before you decide to throw away any useful items, consider donating them. Here are two donation drop-off locations:

April 27: 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

April 28: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.


Items for pick-up must be bundled, boxed or bagged and placed at curbside with your regular trash containers. There is no limit to the number of bundles, however, each must be light enough for an average person to lift.

Branches and limbs must be wrapped or bundled in lengths of no more than 3 feet.

You may arrange for pick-up of refrigerators or freezers by calling 425-263-8064, prior to the end of the day on Friday, April 26. Remove doors from all appliances before placing at curbside.

Other large household items may be placed with your regular trash and it is not necessary to call for pick-up.

The following items are NOT accepted through the clean-up:

• Paints

• Solvents

• Pesticides

• Gasoline

• Cleaning materials

• Tires

• Rocks

• Concrete

• Construction debris

• Sod

• TVs

• Computers

• Laptops

• Computer monitors
