DVS offers community education, volunteer training class

Domestic Violence Services of Snohomish County will offer a six-week, 20-hour community education and volunteer training class beginning Oct. 9.

Classes will be held 5:30-8:30 p.m. on Monday evenings, and 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28. The class culminates Nov. 6 and will be held at the downtown Everett location. For details, contact Stephanie Civey at 425-259-2827 Ext. 1013 or stephanie@dvs-snoco.org.

The class is free of charge for volunteers willing to commit 10 hours of volunteer time within a six-month period for Domestic Violence Services of Snohomish County.

Class topics include: an overview and history of domestic violence; domestic violence and the effects on children; In Her Shoes; domestic violence, drugs and alcohol; safety planning; sexual assault; legal advocacy; diversity; and volunteer opportunities at DVS.

Light snacks and break time will be provided, as well.
