Edmonds Center for the Arts announces 11th season

Edmonds Center for the Arts (ECA) announces its 11th season, running Oct. 5 through May 2018. Full season subscriptions, eight-plus and five-plus show packs and single tickets are available now.

Among those performing will be Al Stewart, the Blind Boys of Alabama, Rosanne Cash, Paula Poundstone and Michael Feinstein

“Creating the lineup of each ECA season is an adventure in itself,” Executive Director Joe McIalwain said.

“We bring a combination of award-winning contemporary artists to our intimate stage, as well as an exciting mix of music, dance, film and comedy for our audience to discover.

"Whatever the event, we strive to create an atmosphere at ECA that makes you feel comfortable, appreciated and engaged, as if the venue is an extension of your own living room.”

Edmonds Center for the Arts offers 30 percent discounts and benefits on full season subscriptions, as well as a 20 percent discount on 8-plus and a 15 percent discount on 5+ show packs.

In addition to the main stage season, ECA offers Saturday matinees for community members of all ages.

This year’s line-up includes Chicago Children’s Theatre’s sensory-friendly performance Red Kite, Brown Box; a New Orleans-style jazz concert with Jazzy Ash & The Leaping Lizards; Petra and the Wolf, a Texas-based adaptation of the classic fairytale; and an interactive dance performance for young audiences inspired by the game Tetris.

There are also film screenings of “Fiddler on the Roof “ and “Mary Poppins,” as well as a free “Golden Era Sing-Along” designed to engage patrons with memory loss. Tickets to matinees are $10.

Families who qualify for free or reduced-price meal programs through the school district, and low-income seniors, are eligible for $2 Arts for Everyone tickets.

ECA’s Film Cabaret Series also continues this season.

These screenings of classic, contemporary and cult films meant to experienced on the big screen. Each film is preceded by a cabaret-style happy hour on the ECA stage, spotlighting local musicians.

The series kicks off with “The Birds” on Oct. 27 and continues with “O Brother, Where Art Thou?,” “Buena Vista Social Club” and “Breakfast at Tiffany’s.”

Tickets are $15 for the film and cabaret, $10 for the film only.
