The Edmonds Library is set to host a free poetry reading by a former Washington State Poet Laureate.

Elizabeth Austen, author of “Every Dress a Decision” and two chapbooks, will read her new poems and discuss her writing process.

The event is set for 5-5:45 p.m. Friday, Oct. 6, in the main living room area of the Edmonds Library, 650 Main St. Light refreshments will be available.

Aside from her own writing, Austen also produces poetry programming for NPR-affiliate KUOW-FM 94.9 in Seattle, and offers poetry and reflective writing for staff and physicians at Seattle Children’s Hospital.

As the state’s poet laureate for 2014-16, she visited all 39 of the state’s counties, giving readings and teaching workshops.

This event is supported by Friends of the Edmonds Library and is presented in conjunction with Edmonds Arts Commission's annual Write on the Sound writers' conference.
