Cecilia Wilson, an Everett resident who manages constituent services for the County Executive’s Office, announced Feb. 19 she is announcing her candidacy for the Snohomish County Council representative for District 2. The second district, which includes all of Mukilteo, is currently represented by former Mukilteo Mayor Brian Sullivan, whose term limited tenure comes to an end this year.

She is the fourth candidate to announce her intention to fill the seat, along with Mukilteo Mayor Jennifer Gregerson, and Everett residents Megan Dunn and Alex Lark. The filing period opens May 13 and ends May 17.

Wilson’s two sons attend Everett public schools.

“My top priority as a Snohomish County Councilmember will be to work hard, represent all of our neighbors, and ensure we build on our current success,” she said. “I will focus on the opioid crisis, improving public safety, innovative solutions to affordable housing, and advocating for funds to help fix our congested roads.

“I want to create more opportunities for the public to participate in the process and to share in our success. Snohomish County is already such a great place, but we can be even better if we work together.”

“For over 20 years, Cecilia Wilson has worked hard behind the scenes to provide county residents with excellent customer service. She’s a trusted leader who has helped to shape Snohomish County with her smart, common sense approach,” said County Executive Dave Somers. “Cecilia is uniquely prepared for this position with her combination of government and private sector experience.”

Prior to her work with the County Executive’s Office, Wilson worked for 19 years as a Legislative Aide to a number of former county councilmembers. Her private sector career includes serving as the records manager at the Law Firm of Keller Rohrbach and eight years with Nordstrom, where worked in public service.

“We have exciting opportunities right now in Snohomish County with Paine Field commercial air service and many other new projects. I have worked closely with Cecilia Wilson and I know she can hit the ground running to make the most of these opportunities,” said Snohomish County Council Chair Terry Ryan.

Wilson’s endorsements include Executive Dave Somers, Council Chair Terry Ryan, Sheriff Ty Trenary, former Judge Ellen Fair, County Clerk Sonya Kraski and former Everett Mayor Ray Stephenson.

“I love Snohomish County. I’m looking forward to getting out into our community and talking with the voters,” said Wilson. “I know that my experience has prepared me well to be a county councilmember and I can’t wait to serve my community in this capacity.”
