FAA gives clearance for commercial service at Paine Field

By Brandon Gustafson | Feb 20, 2019

On Wednesday, the Federal Aviation Administration gave the needed "thumbs up" for commercial air service to begin at Paine Field.

The agency issued a "finding of no significant impact" regarding environmental, noise, and traffic impacts to the area as a result of commercial air service at the new Propeller-ran terminal.

Alaska Airlines had been scheduled to begin flights this month, but due to the partial government shutdown, the terminal could not get the clearance needed by key FAA employees.

Alaska and United will combine to operate 24 flights in and out of the new terminal, with locations across the western United States such as Las Vegas, Denver, Phoenix, and spots throughout California.

Look for a story on this in next week's paper.
