Family fairy tale fun returns to EvCC

Everett Community College theater instructor Beth Peterson is bringing fairy tale magic back to the stage with performances of her original children’s story “Tales from the Woods: Book III, The Enchanted Woods” July 29 through Aug. 14.

Live actors and puppets will tell an alternate tale of Snow White, the Ugly Duckling and Sleeping Beauty and how they came together to fight a common enemy. In doing so, they learn more about their own origins.

The play is a continuation of Peterson’s whimsical “Tales from the Woods” series, performed in summer 2011 and 2012.

Watch “Tales from the Woods: Book III, The Enchanted Woods” at Legion Memorial Park near the giant tree July 29 and 30 and Aug. 5 and 6; at EvCC next to the Henry M. Jackson Conference Center Aug. 8, 9, and 16; at Forest Park’s outdoor stage Aug. 12 and 13; and at the Everett Public Library Aug. 14.

All performances are at 6:30 p.m. If it’s raining on any outdoor performance date, the play will be at EvCC, Baker Hall, room 120.

Admission is free, with donations accepted. Families are welcome to attend and should bring their own blankets and chairs for outdoor performances. Content of the play is appropriate for all ages.

The show is produced by the City of Everett Cultural Arts Commission, Everett’s Parks and Recreation Department and EvCC.

The play is directed by Beth Peterson. The cast includes EvCC students Danae Chopelas, Judah Hastings, Alex Hills, Kat Johnston, Kathleen Lawson, Nikki Maier, Jason McKendry, Laura Olsen and Jesse Tilley.The production manager is Joddee Krietel.
