More than two years after friends and family members last saw Antonio Neill, his foot was found on Jetty Island in Everett.

Neill, an ACES High School graduate who grew up in South Everett, was last seen Dec. 12, 2016. He was 22 years old at the time of his disappearance.

According to a Jan. 28, 2018, post by Neill’s mother, Jenny Neill, on the “Missing Antonio Neill” Facebook page she ran, her son spent a month in jail after turning himself in on a department of corrections violation shortly after his car was stolen. Jenny Neill said Neill was detoxing while in jail, as he had relapsed that October.

He was reportedly released from jail Dec. 11, 2016, and spent the day with his mother, who took him to get his driver’s license and cellphone, both of which had been stolen along with his car.

While in prison, Neill’s uncle, who he was close to, died unexpectedly, which Jenny Neill said her son took very hard.

Jenny Neill said in the post that her son was feeling depressed, and was using her cellphone to try and find a place to stay until he could find more permanent housing.

Neill then went to stay with a friend, who lived on Cedar Street in Everett, and Jenny Neill heard from her friend the next day that her son and the friend he was staying with got into a fight after using drugs.

Neill reportedly left his friend’s home wearing just jeans and a T-shirt.

His friends and family hadn’t seen him since, and his mother reported him as missing two weeks later when he didn’t come home for Christmas.

“I have a feeling something happened to my son, because it is unlike him to not keep in touch with me,” Jenny Neill said in 2017. “No matter what he’s going through, he knows I am always there for him, so I’m really scared something’s wrong.”

According to a news release from the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office sent Feb. 5, Neill’s foot was found Jan. 1. Detectives are treating the case as a death, and the Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the cause of death. Detectives with the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit continue to investigate the case and conduct searches of the area where the remains were found, according to the release.

Jenny Neill has been running the Facebook page regarding her son’s disappearance for the last two years.

On Feb. 5, she created a post after hearing from detectives.

“With deepest regrets that I have to say this, but we recently got confirmation that the human remains found on Jan. 1, 2019, on Jetty Island in Everett, WA is a positive DNA match to my son Antonio Neill,” she said. “Services are in the process of being planned and we will keep you updated. Please just pray someone comes forward with information that leads to solving who did this to my son.”

Anyone with information about Neill’s disappearance is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office anonymous tip line at 425-388-3845.
