Take part in a Mukilteo tradition that has been going on for over 30 years, by attending the 2017 Holiday Tree Lighting and Open House.

The Tree Lighting will be taking place Saturday, Dec. 2 at the Rosehill Community Center running from 3 to 6 p.m., with the tree lighting taking place at 5:45.

The event draws hundreds of people each year and there will be a lot of food and activities for attendees.

“Whidbey Coffee will be sponsoring with hot chocolate and the Mukilteo Senior Association will be sponsoring with cookies,” Nick Hamblet, a recreation coordinator for Mukilteo said. “Additional sponsors include Canyon Creek Church doing ornament making and The Cutting Lounge doing holiday cards.”

In addition to making ornaments and holiday cards, Creation Station will also be here with holiday arts and crafts.

Families will also have the opportunity to take photos with Santa, Mrs. Claus and the Grinch.

“There will be choir performances from six local schools,” Hamblet said. “Serene Lake, Columbia, Picnic Point, Olympic View, Mariner and Kamiak, which will be going on throughout the event.”

The Grinch will cap off the event by lighting the community tree.

Weather permitting, a boat parade will add to the evening’s festivities.

Donations to the Mukilteo Food Bank will be accepted throughout the event.
