Kamiak claims league golf titles

Kamiak’s Alvin Kwak shot a five-under par 67 to earn medalist honors and help lead Kamiak to a first-place finish at the Wesco 4A boys golf championships Tuesday, May 7, at the Walter Hall Golf Course.

Teammate Devin Kim was two strokes behind with a 69 and Daniel Kim placed third with 70. Josh Clogston and Alex Kim both shot 73.

The Knights scored 279 to finish ahead of Glacier Peak, which finished second with 309.

Mariner’s Jazzelle Caparas took first place in the Wesco 4A girls golf tournament Wednesday, May 8, at Battle Creek Golf Course.

Caparas, who finished in a tie for seventh at last year’s 4A state tournament, shot a 74 to finish 10 strokes ahead of Kamiak’s Regina Park. The Knights won the team title, scoring 361 to place ahead of Glacier Peak, which had 377.
