Kamiak falls to defending league champs | Football

Kamiak’s difficult season continues.

Defending league champion Lake Stevens beat the Knights 59-7 in a Wesco 4A football game Friday, Oct. 13, at Goddard Stadium.

Junior quarterback Matt Merk connected on a 16-yard pass to wide receiver Joseph Prikhodko for Kamiak’s lone touchdown in the third quarter.

Merk completed 11 of 25 passes for 128 yards. Prikhodko caught three passes for 70 yards. Matarr Saine had two receptions for 42 yards and Cole Ebert snagged five passes for 21 yards.

Lake Stevens (5-0 in the league, 6-1 overall) was led by quarterback Conor Bardue, who completed 17 of 25 passes for 307 yards and four touchdowns. Wide receiver Anthony Hutchinson, one of five players to catch a touchdown, had eight receptions for 166 yards. Austin Murren caught four passes for 76 yards and one score. Ian Hanson, Kayshawn Mounarath and Max Moenoa each caught a TD.

Tom Lewis rushed for 92 yards on 12 carries and scored one touchdown. Mounarath carried the ball 11 times for 69 yards and one touchdown and Austin Calvin also scored a TD.

The Vikings outgained Kamiak (0-5, 1-6) 513 to 96 in total yards.

Kamiak hosts Glacier Peak (3-2, 4-3), which defeated Mariner 28-13, at 7 p.m., Friday, Oct. 20, at Goddard Stadium.
