A sea of green swept through the annual Mukilteo-Everett Cross Country Clash.

Jackson had eight of the top nine runners in the boys race and six of the top nine in the girls race en route to a double team victory Thursday, Oct. 12, at McCollum Park in Everett.

Kamiak freshman Carp Mukai placed fourth in the boys race behind Jackson’s Joseph Skoog, Mateo Rivera and Brenden Charbeneau. Mariner’s Brandon Lopez finished 10th. Kamiak’s Andrew Stupey tied for 11th, Jason Blinn placed 15th, Owen Cromwell took 17th and Zach Stancik was 20th. Mariner’s Sam Hernandez finished 22nd.

Jackson won the team competition, scoring 17 points, ahead of Kamiak (51), Mariner (87) and Cascade (97).

Jackson’s Anna Skoog, the younger sister of Joseph Skoog, took first place in the girls race, ahead of Mariner’s Kara Sevigny. Marauders Suzy Pace and Kyla Ojalehto placed seventh and 10th, respectively.

Kamiak’s Tracey Hatch finished 13th and teammate Gloria Lee was 14th. Mariner’s Esmeraldo Reyes was 15th.

Jackson’s Haley Balestreri, Allyson Kim and Emma Atkinson were third, fourth and fifth. Wolfpack freshmen Sarah Sewell and Audrey Tracy placed eighth and ninth.

The Timberwolves finished first with 21 points and were followed by Mariner (50), Cascade (76) and Kamiak (93).

The Knights would have scored far higher except that their top two runners, juniors Alicia Anderson and Leah Clark, apparently took a wrong turn on the course and ended up disqualified.

The Wesco divisional meet is scheduled for 10 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 21, at Lakewood High School.
