The Kamiak Mukilteo Knights sixth grade boys basketball team recently won the 2018 CPC Prez Weekend Classic tournament in Bothell.

This was the first tournament championship for the team. The Knights went 4-0 in the tournament and beat Cedarcrest Select 39-36 in the title contest. Brandon Bays led all scorers with 18 points.

Kamiak overcame a 3-point deficit in the first game of the tournament with less than 10 seconds left. Alex Lundquist hit the game tying 3-pointer with 1.5 seconds remaining to force overtime. Bays scored the lone point in overtime to secure the 39-38 win. Daniel Shubert led the Knights with 11 points.  Kamiak then went on to beat its next two opponents by a combined 14 points.

“I am very proud of the team and their overall performance during the tournament,” coach Isaac Robinson said. “They were challenged on many levels and they never gave up. Even being faced with overcoming a deficit, they remained true to their identity as a team and never panicked. They fought hard and their hard work paid off.  Dedication and commitment are what transfer dreams into reality.”

The team includes Brandon Bays, William Turner, Kareem Sy, Erich Jackson, Dylan Park, Daniel Shubert, Geoffrey Keleb Jr., Andrew Kim, Alex Lundquist, David Zieve, and Brayden Keenan. The team was coached by Isaac Robinson and Al McNeal.
