Kamiak’s Clark takes sixth place at district meet | Cross country

Kamiak’s Leah Clark took sixth place at the Wesco Girls Cross Country Championships Saturday, Oct. 21, at Lakewood High School.

The junior standout finished the 5k course in 18 minutes 49.04 seconds. Kamiak junior Alicia Anderson placed 12th overall. Mariner sophomores Kara Sevigny and Kyla Ojalehto took 65th and 66th, respectively.

Lake Stevens junior Taylor Roe placed first and was followed by Edmonds-Woodway’s Yukino Parle, Olivia Meader-Yetter and Stephanie Wrobleski. Glacier Peak’s Alexis Palmer was fifth. Kamiak finished 10th in the team competition, which was won by Edmonds-Woodway (102 points). Snohomish took second with 108 and Glacier Peak was third with 131.

Kamiak freshman Carp Mukai placed 46th in the boys race. Teammate Jason Blinn was 79th and Mariner’s Brandon Lopez took 99th.

Jackson’s Joseph Skoog finished first in 15:48.37 and was followed by Glacier Peak’s Riley McDowell. Jackson’s Mateo Rivera placed fourth and Glacier Peak’s Nicholas Mullineux Perrault was fifth. Edmonds-Woodway’s Deyago Perazo finished sixth and Lucas Lacambra was 11th.

Glacier Peak won the team title with 55 points and was followed by Edmonds-Woodway with 62 and Jackson with 79. Kamiak was 12th and Mariner was 21st.

The Northwest District Championships are scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 28, at South Whidbey High School.

The state meet will be Saturday, Nov. 4, at the Sun Willows Golf Course in Pasco.
