Kamiak’s Gilszmers go 1-2 in 500 free | Boys swimming

Kamiak twin brothers Vlad and Slava Gilszmer proved to be a potent combination at the Kentridge Invitational.

Vlad Gilszmer won the 500-yard freestyle with a state-best time of 4 minutes, 39.67 seconds. Slava Gilszmer finished second in 4:44.12.

The Gilszmer brothers helped Kamiak (419 points) place third among 50 teams, behind winner Mercer Island (660) and Bainbridge (588). Vlad Gilszmer also finished fourth in the 200 freestyle.

Kamiak’s Maxwell Fang took fourth place in the 100 butterfly with a state qualifying time and was eighth in the 200 freestyle. Teammate Brian Park finished ninth in the 50 freestyle.

The Knights’ 200 freestyle relay team of Park, Alex Kirby, Vlad Gilszmer and Fang took third as did the 400 freestyle squad of Fang, Slava Gilszmer, Kirby and Vlad Gilszmer.
