Knights of Columbus elect new grand knight

The Cascade Council of the Knights of Columbus has named Brian Owens to the office of Grand Knight for the fraternal year beginning July 1. Cascade Council serves Saint John Mission in Mukilteo, St. Mary Magdalen Parish in Everett, and the surrounding communities.

Owens, a fourth-degree Sir Knight in the Order, is a longtime Everett resident, who attended Whittier Elementary, North Junior High, and Cascade Senior High schools (Class of ’74).

The Knights of Columbus is the world's foremost Catholic fraternal benefit society.

The Order was established in New Haven, Connecticut in 1882, and has grown from a few members in one council to more than 1.8 million members in more than 14,000 councils throughout the United States, Canada, the Philippines, Mexico, Poland, the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Panama, the Bahamas, the Virgin Islands, Cuba, Guatemala, Guam, and Saipan.

Founded on the principles of charity, unity, fraternity, and patriotism, during the past decade alone the Knights of Columbus have donated more than $1.4 billion to charity, and provided more than 653 million hours of volunteer service in support of charitable initiatives.
