Kwak competes at U.S. Junior Amateur | Boys golf

Kamiak junior Alvin Kwak advanced to the Round of 32 at the U.S. Junior Amateur Golf Tournament.

Kwak lost to Japan’s Kaito Onishi 1-up in the Round of 32 Thursday, July 20 at Flint Hills National Golf Club in Andover, Kansas.

The loss ended Kwak’s run at the tournament. Earlier, Kwak edged Brandon Mancheno of Jacksonville, Florida, 1-up in the Round of 64. Mancheno came into the championships ranked No. 2.

Kwak won a U.S Junior Amateur Championship Qualifier tournament June 20 at The Classic Golf Club in Spanaway to qualify for the U.S. Junior Amateur Tournament.

The Kamiak standout tied for 10th at the 4A state championships, helping the Knights to a third-place finish this spring.
