Letter: Diversity makes Mukilteo schools stronger

Jul 19, 2017

Living just outside the border with Everett, I can’t vote in Mukilteo, but I’m in its school district and feel very connected to it. Our son attended its schools, as did his friends and wife. The relationship continues in many ways.

Among the district's impressive strengths is its wonderful diversity, with kids from all over the world, and of all religions. In Mukilteo schools, acceptance and celebration of differences is the norm.

I really hate the idea that they might see their city elect to its council a man who gained notoriety for promoting rank Islamophobia. Please don’t let this happen, no matter how much of his own ample money he spends to make you forget.

Since I can’t vote either way, I guess I won’t mention his name; but if you’re interested in figuring it out, you could save some time by starting at the end of the alphabet.
