Letter: For your consideration please:

Nov 01, 2017

The last three and half years served on Mukilteo City Council have been a rewarding experience for me, and I have seen considerable changes in the administration and councilmembers. As a result, I am writing to all those who share in their strong will to continue in keeping the city of Mukilteo great by sharing my thoughts on the upcoming election and who I feel are the best candidates for you; our voters.

The first candidate that I would like to endorse is Anna Rohrbough, running for position 1; my replacement. Anna Rohrbough would be an asset to City Council based on several distinct characteristics that show strong values and morals in which would be beneficial for the city. With experience of owning her own business, Anna has the mindset to think out of the box and make quality decisions to ensure a solid foundation as a council member. She continues to show concern for the citizens of Mukilteo, able to express her opinions, and provide a voice for all of you.

As for position 3 there are two good candidates running and after lengthy conversations with both candidates, I feel Sarah Kneller would be great for the Mukilteo School District Board. Tony Markey is my choice for Mukilteo City Council based on his fiscal background in business. I think Tony is the stronger choice for putting the citizens of Mukilteo first and above his political preference.

For position 2, being a business owner myself and having many employees past and present, I recognize that people do not share opinions equally. I feel that Peter Zieve would not be politically influenced, is a strong business leader in our community and would fill the City Council seat very well. Business leaders have made mistakes that I have known of, and those mistakes have been corrected and leaders are back on the right path.

Our current mayor, Jennifer, like many other mayors, has gone through many learning curves, I believe that her mentors are not the best for this city, If she expects to continue as mayor, I feel she should seek difference advisors.  Dan Matthews has many years of experience in business over Jennifer. Dan has lived and raised his family in Mukilteo, proving he has great knowledge and highly capable of leading this city.

It has been an honor and pleasure serving the city of Mukilteo for several years, but I look forward to my retirement.

Ted Wheeler

Mukilteo City Councilmember
