Letter: Youth club thankful to have so many helping hands

Chuck Davis, Director of the Mukilteo Boys & Girls Club, wants to extend a huge thank you to all those that are a part of making this years’ 48th Luau Auction the biggest ever.

Once the luau is over, the planning for the next year’s event begins in February. It is basically an 8-month-long effort to plan for an event of this magnitude.

It takes a dedicated volunteer planning committee, who meet regularly throughout the year, discussing, planning and improving the yearly event. They set goals to make each year better and better, and to raise more funds to support the club.

It takes many procurement solicitors who go out and make contact with new and previous year’s donors. The donated items that have been gathered for this year are on track to make it our biggest luau fundraiser, and more fun than ever.

Many businesses have stepped up in a big way this year. Many have contributed auction items, and some are luau “Sponsors” who make cash donations at various levels of support. Then there are businesses that donate items, such as advertising, food, drink, ice, printing, signage, graphic design and more.

Then, on the day of the fundraiser, we have many volunteers on site to make sure everything runs as smoothly as possible.

This event could not happen without the support of so many volunteers and the many charitable and giving individuals and businesses. You can see why Chuck is so grateful and says, “you should all be very proud that you are supporting this annual community event, which helps Mukilteo Boys & Girls Club in a big way. Thank you!”
