Letter: Zieve’s record doesn’t reflect family values

Jun 20, 2017

Peter Zieve has announced that he is running for Mukilteo City Council. I think it is critical that you know a little about him before you cast your vote in August.

There is a 64-page police record – public record – describing many domestic assaults between him and his wife.

I had dinner with his sister last week and she told me he told her that, “all black people should be exterminated” and “disabled people are repulsive.”

He spoke at a recent City Council meeting against passing the resolution to make Mukilteo a welcoming city ("‘Welcoming’ resolution divides community,” June 7). He sent postcards to all the households in Mukilteo against the building a mosque in our community ("Head of Electroimpact apologizes, clarifies anti-mosque postcard,” April 20, 2016).

There is a current suit against his business by the state of Washington for his hiring practices, hostile work environment and refusal to hire Muslim applicants ("Electroimpact’s Zieve says he’s victim of state’s probe,” March 29).

I am not seeing the family values.

His opponent, Bob Champion, has been on the City Council for the last three and a half years. He is smart and fair, a great leader and compromiser, and a good listener.

There is no comparison. My vote will be for Champion.

Regarding your article   “Zieve’s record doesn’t reflect family values” I would like to say I have never heard such a biased hatchet job on anyone.

Peter is running for a position on the Mukilteo City Council and I hope he wins.  It will help bring some balance to our current extremely liberal city management.

Peter has a very successful large high-tech business in Mukilteo where he employs many people of different races and a lot of Mukilteo residents.  His Ethiopian Mukilteo supporter Sisay Desalgn who knows Peter well will tell you he is not a racist.  And he is not someone who engages in domestic violence.

His sister Wendy Zieve who publically admits she’s a progressive activist, lied about him in her Communist circles.

I would like for you to reach out to Peter for a response to you article.  There are always two sides to a story and I would like to hear his direct from him if you have the courage to print it.
